Babbit B-88, B-83, B-83S (tin, antimony and Copper);

Babbit B-16, BN, BSB (lead, antimony, Copper, and tin);

Babbits BKA, BK2, BK2SKH (lead, calcium and sodium).

Advantage

Belongs to a group of low-melting alloys, melting point T °:300-440 °C. In the babbitt very high wear resistance and low coefficient of friction, reduces wear of moving parts, promote equipment longevity. Reliability is determined by the layer thickness babbitt bearings for steel insert. Babbits combine high flexibility, the ability to retain lubricant and firmness enough to insert the shaft bearing, but does not lead to a deterioration of the shaft. Disadvantage

Production and application

As an additive may content calcium, cadmium, arsenic, sodium, nickel, magnesium and tellurium.

In tin-based Babbitt (B-88, B-83, B-83S, SAE11, SAE12, ASTM2) increased viscosity and minimal friction. These babbit compared with lead are more resistant to corrosion, durable, better thermal conductivity.
